ALLOTMENT NEWSLETTER

Where Have All the Flowers Gone…?

If that, or any other gardening-related dilemma, has been troubling you, you need to get yourself along to our very own Gardeners’ Question Time. All set in place for Saturday 8th February at the Hobbayne Centre – poster (http://gallery.mailchimp.com/2f051fc1ac/files/Gardener_s_Question_Time_BHAA_Feb_2014.pdf) here! – at 5pm. The expert panel is primed and ready with answers to your questions on all aspects of planting, growing or harvesting. Bring along some refreshments & take the opportunity to learn something new from the panel and your fellow plotholders.

It’s Good to Cut the Green Green Grass of Home

It’s not just we gardeners who suffer from the effects of anno domini – our mower is also sadly in the twilight of its life and will shortly be put out to pasture. A new young replacement is due to spring fully formed from the Committee in a few weeks, but in the meantime please take the greatest care of the venerable current incumbent when you trim the paths around your plot.

Digging Your Scene

Now’s the time to make life easier over the growing season, by digging over your plot and nourishing the soil.

The Carnival is over…

…for 2013 but the 2014 carnival is on its way! The date is set for Saturday June 21st. This year’s theme is Music, celebrating Hanwell’s great musical heritage, and yes, you’ve guessed it, your newsletter editor is using this as an excuse to headline every article with weak song-related puns. Start thinking about what you could grow or make to donate to the stall, and why not consider volunteering to join the procession or help out on the stall? It is genuinely very good fun and a great chance to get involved with the whole community as well as the allotments.
