The Charity has worked with the team at BEfriend for several years providing funding for volunteer training and handbooks. We also offer them community space for training and meetings. Over the years we have provided funding to support their truly amazing work and the Charity recognises BEfriend as valuable resource in our community. The Charity has a two-way relationship with BEfriend and we are able to refer local residents to the team allowing volunteers to connect with residents who are alone with no family or friendship support and in need of some day to day connection with the outside world.
“The pandemic has highlighted the huge issue of loneliness in the Ealing borough, and throughout the last 2 years, BEfriend has been there for those who have no one. For many of those we support, the volunteer befriender is the only person someone sees in their week. We are so grateful to the Charity of William Hobbayne for the grant towards our volunteer training, ensuring we can continue to recruit and train the volunteers we need to support lonely and vulnerable adults living in Ealing.”
