Part-time bookkeeper

~1 day per week, remote or onsite - Temporary with a possibility of permanent
About Us

The Charity of William Hobbayne is a small, friendly organisation dedicated to making a meaningful difference to the lives of local people in need. We're looking for a skilled bookkeeper to join our team and help keep our finances running smoothly — so we can focus on what matters most.

The Role

This is a flexible, part-time position equivalent to approximately one day per week. You're welcome to work from our Hanwell office, remotely, or a combination of both — whatever works best for you. We're also open to applicants who would prefer to work on a freelance or self-employed basis.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Recording all receipts against invoices and flagging any aged debtors

  • Logging all purchase invoices and ensuring they are submitted for payment approval in a timely manner

  • Recording all payments and receipts, with full monthly reconciliation across all bank accounts

  • Reconciling petty cash payments against relevant nominal codes and ensuring the prepayment card account is replenished and reconciled as needed

  • Monthly payroll input for five employees via Sage, including relevant HMRC submissions and pension contributions to the Nest charity pension scheme

  • Supporting the production of quarterly management accounts, including accruals and prepayments, in collaboration with the Chair of the Finance Committee

  • Ensuring all Sage accounts are fully reconciled at year-end for auditor submission, and liaising with auditors throughout the audit process

What we're looking for
  • Solid bookkeeping experience, whether employed, freelance, or returned after a career break

  • Working knowledge of Sage accounting software

  • Organised, reliable, and comfortable working with a small team

  • An interest in supporting a local charitable organisation

  • Formal qualifications are not essential — we value practical experience and a careful, conscientious approach.

Why this role

Whether you're looking to supplement your income, return to work after time away, or simply want flexible hours that fit around your life, this role is designed to work around you.
