Hanwell and Norwood Green Orchard Trail is a local community project to plant and care for a trail of publicly accessible community orchards in the Grand Union Canal corridor in Hanwell and surroundings. Publicly accessible community orchards benefit humans, flora and fauna alike, and fruit is free to pick and enjoy.
We have been working with HANGOT for several months to create a private compound for them on one of our green sites next to the Grand Union Canal. We have created a fenced area and purchased a new shed to enable them to store their equipment throughout the year. The Goodgym supported an event, clearing the rubbish from the site enabling HANGOT to begin working from the area.
The area will be used for heeling in trees and allow easy access to local green spaces prior to planting across the surrounding sites.
The Charity is delighted to facilitate this fantastic group and look forward to supporting the work they do in our community.
